Singing Demonstration in Leyden

Hi friends,

One of the things I do when I am not singing is to help organize and lead the Leyden Council on Aging, a group that supports the health and independance of seniors.  We meet once a month at the Leyden church for a program and lunch on the 2nd Thursday of the month.  On October 9, we have been invited to sing shapenote music with, and for, the seniors.

A few folks have told me that they will be able to come sing but more would be really great!  We will meet at 11:30 at the fellowship hall of the church in the center of Leyden and sing as usual, answering questions informally but mostly just sing, for about 30 minutes to an hour.  All singers are invited to stay for a tasty lunch* afterwards.

I look forward to singing with you.  If possible, let me know that you are coming.  *If you want to stay for lunch, be sure to let me know so we plan the meal accordingly.  (i.e. Cook enough food!)

DIRECTIONS:

From the North, take Exit 1 off Rt 91 in Brattleboro. Follow Rt 5 South to Guilford Country Store (on your left). Take a right on Guilford Center Rd. (opposite store). Follow this road about 1.6 miles to Weatherhead Hollow Rd. and turn left. Stay on Weatherhead Hollow Rd. past the Guilford Pond on your left, through the crossroads and past the state line. Just past Beaver Meadow Cemetery take a right on Greenfield Rd. Take this road (past my house) to the end of the road. Bear left at the center. The church will be on your right almost immediately after turning. Park at the Town Hall.

From the South, take Exit 26 off Rt 91 at the Rt 2 circle. Follow 2A East toward the center of Greenfield. Go through crossroads at the traffic light, then turn left on Solon St. At the light Solon St. changes into Elm St. Continue going straight on Elm St. until Elm meets up with Conway St. Turn left on Conway St. You¹ll cross over Rt 2, (where the road changes it¹s name to Leyden Rd.), go through the outskirts of Greenfield and cross the Greenfield/Leyden town line (where the road begins to climb and changes it¹s name to Greenfield Rd). Follow Greenfield Rd. for about 3.6 more miles. At the fork by the elementary school follow the sign to the left towards the center of Leyden. At the center of town, turn left on West Leyden Rd. The church will be on your right, almost immediately. Park at the Town Hall.
